Just before I sat down to write this, I saw that another of our members has joined what I call my "10,000 Referral Club."
It always gives me a warm feeling to see that.
It seems like only yesterday that this particular member was rolling past their 1,000th referral. I see that more often, of course.
Still, 10,000 is not unusual.
In fact, we process about a million referrals per year, and that number is growing very quickly.
If you stop to think about it, these 10,000 referrals aren't just 'hits' or 'traffic' or bland web statistics, but actual people who have been invited to that site by someone they know and trust.
These people have a very high level of interest, are very likely to buy, join, read, or contact you, and cost almost nothing to acquire - there was no advertising involved in reaching them. It should come as no surprise that many of them became customers, and many also expressed interest in buying in the future.
But the referrals are only part of the story. Another, possibly more powerful, benefit is that this website will add THOUSANDS of interested users to their mailing lists this year. If the people running this website are smart (they are), they will be sending monthly newsletters, new product announcements, and seasonal specials to their email lists. Over the long term, this might even generate more business for them than the original referrals did! And that will be piled on top of business from new referrals.
But the mailing lists and recurring business are only part of the story too. What else did they get? By leaving the default message blank on their referral form, they ensured that each and every referral contained a personalized message showing why the referral was being sent, what they liked about that particular page or product, and sometimes (get this) why they were motivated to buy, and even refer other people to buy. Want to know what moves your customers?
So this year, this one website gets:
About 10,000 living, breathing referrals - the highest quality web traffic a website can have. That would have cost them many thousands of dollars if they got those people through other advertising or marketing methods such as pay-per-click ads, banners, or email marketing.
About 10,000 interested subscribers to their newsletter - just waiting for that perfect promotional offer to become customers again.
About 10,000 consumer opinions about their website, products, prices, and offers - all free of charge.
And what did they have to do to get all this?
They invested a few dollars a month in their Tell A Friend King Membership (talk about paying for yourself many times over!), then placed their referral button in a prominent position on their website product pages.
How does this apply to you?
Whether you are selling products, offering services, or simply providing useful information on your website, you want conversions - people to buy, contact you to become a lead, or read your content.
You should be taking advantage of referrals, we can help you do that, and our service can pay for itself, often many, many times over. What else can we say?
Now the bad news.
Your trial account expires today. As a courtesy to you, the service will remain active through tomorrow, after which your link will generate an error.
But it's not too late! If this was an oversight on your part, there is still time to sign up and start grabbing referrals. Just visit the site, login, and click on the "Sign Up Now" link.
And I really think you should - we built this company because we really believe in tell a friend marketing. We've seen it work.
If you have any questions, need any help, or even just want advice on getting tons of referrals, feel free to get in touch.
Would you like to extend your trial? I know we are all busy - Many people contact us because they started their trials too early or just got busy and forgot. If you would like to add another two weeks, just hit "reply" and let us know.
Best of luck to you, and I hope to see you again soon!
